| Telluride Fire Protection District |
The formation of the Telluride Fire Protection District, in 1967, created two volunteer fire services as well as EMS. With the addition of these two departments, the TFPD has diligently provided the citizens of the District the highest quality fire suppression and extinguishment, emergency medical life support, fire prevention, life safety and rescue services in a responsible, yet cost effective manner. Covering 390 square miles of private property, BLM and Forest Service lands, from the county lines at the top of Dallas Divide, Lizard Head Pass, Bridal Veil Falls, and to Specie Creek Road to the west TFPD continues to meet the growing needs of our citizens. TFPD maintains strong academic and hands on training for our volunteer firefighters and EMT's, as well as a comprehensive public fire prevention educational program.
